A Confident Transition to Primary School

Starting primary school is an exciting milestone, but we understand that it can also feel like a significant change for children and their families. At Kidstore, we work closely with parents and our local primary schools—Kilsyth Primary School, St Patrick’s Primary School and Balmalloch Primary School—to make each child’s transition as familiar, positive and reassuring as possible.

Good communication is central to this process. Our transition arrangements include visits from primary teachers to the nursery, opportunities for children to meet their school buddies, and planned visits for children to become familiar with their new school, classrooms and surroundings. With parents’ permission, we also share relevant information about each child’s strengths, interests, friendships, individual needs and the support that helps them thrive. This joined-up approach allows nursery staff, families and receiving teachers to work together and gives children time to build trusting relationships before their first day.

For families choosing BIG Kidstore OSC, this continuity can extend beyond the school day. Children will be safely collected from these schools and accompanied to our Storehouse setting, where familiar Kidstore values, nurturing relationships, child-led play and predictable routines will provide a comforting bridge between school and home. This gives children additional confidence while offering parents peace of mind that communication and support will continue throughout this important stage. BIG Kidstore’s opening remains subject to final Care Inspectorate registration.
